The book "The Big Ones: How Natural Disasters Have Shaped Us (and What We Can Do About Them)" will give my Earth Science students a piece of the Earth puzzle that I have been missing in my class for years; the human piece. I make a living by working with kids and teaching them about the mechanics of how the Earth works - and I rarely have time to teach more than that. With a revised school schedule this year on my campus we have been gifted "Flex Time" to both help struggle students and enrich excelling students. Having time to teach about the natural disasters that have greatly impacted this planet has always been a goal of mine and now, with your help, I can achieve it!
Considering the current climate conditions on Earth, my students must understand that there are always impacts to humanity when mother nature acts out. Since most of them rely on social media for their learning these days, I want to do what I can to teach them the power of reading first hand experiences, and explore how it makes them feel not only about what the Earth is capable of, but how it impacts the people near the event.
Thank you for considering donating to this project, I promise I will do great work with this set of books.
