My students are energetic, passionate learners. Many of them have experienced a lot of trauma in their young lives and have hardships outside of school. However, I try to make our classroom a safe place for them to thrive and learn both academically and socially. Academically my students are all below grade level in literacy. However, they love to learn and get excited when they start to realize they can read or understand a new concept. 18 of my 26 1st graders are English Language Learners.
