The school garden has provided an outdoor learning space that has not existed at our school before, but we need materials right now to keep it going! Students showed interest in starting a garden last year and so we prepared the garden for the spring. Now that it is summer and the plants are growing, we need lots of water daily! At this point, I have been driving from home with a trunk full of buckets of water and it is not very efficient and the plants are not getting enough water.
Put simply, we need a water pump to adequately supply the plants with water because our plants are drying out! We also need to plan for gardening this fall with soil, peat pots, and gardening materials. This could be an amazing opportunity for our students to engage in valuable cross-curricular content that would also allow us to maintain social distancing. The twine is used to tie plants to stakes, and the soil and other seed starting materials will be used to start seedlings for fall vegetables. My hope is that this garden will also be used to supply food to families in need. Thank you for your help as this garden is going to be a vital resource!
