These materials are necessary to have the students handle food safely. In high school, students will be able to pursue the culinary arts in a JTED program. My program will help them understand and practice the fundamentals of the culinary world so that they have a head start in JTED. My class will lay the foundations for any culinary schools they may want to attend after high school. They will understand that food is not just something you eat. The program will help students show creativity and critical thinking about which flavors go where. Instead of thinking up ways to get into trouble, they can focus on analyzing recipes and seeing which ingredients are best or need to be substituted. It helps them understand the nutritional value of what they are eating. The thermometers give them a better understanding of food safety and what temperatures to keep food at. The program will help them understand that they need to respect food.
