Many of my sixth graders are taking science for the first time. I work in a very economically diverse school district. Many of my students have not been able to get 3-ring binders for my class. While it may seem small, having a binder in science class is critical for their success. It teaches organization, it helps students build connections between class periods, and it builds strong scholarly habits with writing and executing experiments. Furthermore, our kiddos struggle to perform on the 8th grade science test and this this will help them file their notes away until 8th grade.
