I have the privilege of teaching rowdy, creative first graders in a Title One school. Our school values the arts and technology integration and is striving to provide differentiated instruction that allows and encourages students to collaborate, think critically, and be creative. Through a county grant, we will be receiving iPads for student learning later this semester. These education goals and new developments in my teaching are hindered by the 21 desks taking up the majority of space in my classroom. Students have uncomfortable, personal space that gets in the way of creating an environment for 21st century learning.
