I teach 3rd graders at a rural Title I school. Our school is currently 51% free and reduced lunch. I teach all generally subjects to my eager group of 18 kiddos. Many students in my classroom do not have access to books at home and are often excited to see what new books I have bought to bring in and share. For reasons that cannot be controlled, many of my students do not have adequate support at home when it comes to reading comprehension. While my students are motivated to learn, their motivation often drops when it comes to breaking apart information that they have read in a text. My students are in need of a motivational piece that will help them understand that they are capable of such difficult comprehension and will even help students fall in love with reading to learn on their own.
