I teach in a high poverty, Title 1 high school in southern California. My students are multi cultural, English language learners and special education students. Some students are often hard to discipline due to poverty, challenging home lives, and difficult family and personal issues. Hands-on projects are highly motivating, especially when they involve art and music. They enjoy technology, but our school, and especially my classroom, is teaching aid (maps) and technology poor. My students especially enjoy creating and performing, and love an appreciative audience.
