My students live in a small town in North Carolina where poverty is a common concern. School is where they come for a warm meal and the chance to forget their problems at home. Reading is my students favorite time of day because they are able to travel to new places, laugh at silly characters and learn about far away places. When given the chance, they all love to listen to books on CD! They curl up on the floor with a new book and they do not want to stop until the book is done. I can see their excitement for books and reading while they travel to a new world.
