My young students come from a lower-income urban area where many of their local or neighborhood schools are facing closure and mass budget cuts. We are a small Charter school in our first year serving students grades K-5 in a large city. As the Art teacher I have the pleasure of seeing all students in the school weekly and sometimes more! These young artists are eager to learn and in my classroom they will assume the role of the contemporary artist- creating as much and as diverse work as possible.
