Essential Bags filled with supplies would allow my students an opportunity to explore at home with materials similar to what I would offer in our in-person classroom. The bags would include scissors, crayons, paint, glue, and craft sticks to encourage creativity, a pair of dice, magnetic counters and craft sticks to learn math and dry erase markers and playdough to help develop fine motor skills needed to write numbers, letters and words. The “essential school supply bag” will be the connection between the home classroom and a traditional first school experience for my young students. The materials will be used to complete lessons together virtually, as well as for families to engage in hands-on activities at home. When we return to face-to-face instruction, the children will already be familiar with the materials in our room. The same supplies will help with the consistency of instruction and smooth the transition of learning at school. The bags will remain at home so we can continue to educate our children as a team.
