Our school is very fortunate to have books a plenty, on every topic and level imaginable! However, I see a need for my students to experience reading and writing in ways that are most relevant to today's young learner. For the past five years, I have been attending a technology conference and have witnessed the availability of student-friendly technology to enhance the various learning styles of students who may need extra reading and writing support. After attending the conference this past summer, a teacher presented the many ways students can improve their reading, writing and listening skills via apps that can be installed on the Apple iPad mini. Because many of my students consider reading to be such a challenge, this advanced use of technology will offer them a new and exciting alternative to explore their world.
