We are a public charter school in an inner-city neighborhood with very limited funding. One hundred percent of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. Yet despite all of the challenges my students face, they come to school with enthusiasm and excited to learn. I love to see their eyes light up when they sound out a new letter or read a word. For students in such a high-poverty school, one of the biggest challenges is keeping enrollment high. If my students do not develop a love of learning now, they are likely to drop out one day down the road. We can prevent this! An iPad is one small step toward making learning hands-on and exciting for this truly amazing group of children.
