My music class is being held in a virtual environment. The fourth and fifth grade students are longing to interact with something other than a computer keyboard and screen. We are learning to make short recordings (using FlipGrid) so that they can submit musical performances but they do not have instruments. Putting actual instruments into my students' hands will help them to engage in music in a real and lasting way. Recorders are a great way to reinforce music reading skills, but I really just want the students to engage in the making of music!
