My students are familiar with online social media tools like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, but need to be shown the many other resources available to them on computers and online. Our school is a Vo-Tech high school, and there are parts of the school that have incredibly advanced technological equipment. My students are incredibly knowledgeable about, put simply, the way things work. However, the humanities classrooms are almost entirely devoid of modern-day technological resources. My students who choose to go to college might not see the way that all of their technological knowledge that they learn in our Vo-Tech high school can contribute to other types of learning because their teachers do not have the resources to model the kinds of work on computers that we would like to.
