Research shows that flexible seating classrooms produce better academic outcome among primary school children than more traditional, static classrooms. In kindergarten children need to move in order to stay engaged and focus; flexible seating allows students to wobble, rock, bounce, lean, or stand which increases oxygen flow to their brains, blood flow and core strength. With this project I will be able to impact my student achievement, having a classroom student centered combined with flexible seating would give my students a better chance to reach their full potential. I feel flexible seating will make my students feel empowered, exuberant, collaborative and give themselves a self-identity by allowing them the choice and control over their own environment. It will allow them to change their location and position as needed since we all learn differently. With flexible seating I would be able to conduct individual, quiet studying as well as more collaborative, discussion based work.
