My students struggle with various disabilities; these range from autism, vision impairments, behavior problems, cognitive delays or speech/language delays. My students present new challenges, laughs, and insights everyday. They teach me just as much as I teach them, if not more. In my room I have 17 students; 5 girls and 12 boys. My students are chronologically 5-7 years old; developmentally they are 2 years to 7 years old. About 3 of my students are mainstreamed for some portion of the day, which means they go into a general education classroom. The school I work for, services low socioeconomic students. Roughly 90% of my students are on free or reduced lunches. The school also serves free breakfast, and some students get free dinner.
