I work in a Title One school, consisting of a majority of low-income and English as a Second Language students. My students come in with a deficit in vocabulary and in experiences that contribute to their education. Many of them have never even been to preschool. I start at the beginning with name recognition and how to hold a pencil! By the end of the year most are proficient in reading and math. They are eager to learn! It is very rewarding to work with them.
