These supplies have a set purpose in my classroom. I have two different printers that I can use when our copiers are not working. The ink cartridges and copy paper will be used to print the needed pages that our science series requires us to use in our journals. These pages include charts and tables that are too difficult for the students to draw themselves. I will also use the ink cartridges and copy paper to print various pictures to go with both math and science vocabulary words. We have found that having a picture to go with a word or description helps our students remember more of what they are learning.
The composition notebooks will be the basis for a journal that will show the students writing and learning growth throughout the school year. We will use the notebooks to keep up with new vocabulary, write interesting facts about things that we have learned, to show how a science experiment worked or didn't work. These notebooks will be completely full by the end of the school year and be able to serve as a learning tool over the summer by helping the students review what they have learned.
