First grade is a magical place where learning and fun collide. Sitting at a desk all day is not fun! Students need to move around and have choice throughout the day. Flexible seating gives students power over their own learning. Students are able to maintain their attention through out the day by choosing seating options that work best for them. Students will be able to work around the room comfortably with these new seating options. Students who are comfortable are more engaged! All of seating choices I have chosen will give students the option of how and where they want to learn. It is important that students are given choices in their learning. This will give them more independence as well. The floor cushions will let students sit and work on the floor comfortably. The wobble stools and seat cushions will allow some movement for students while they work. The lap desks will allow students to sit around the room and still have a connected table to write on. The yoga balls will also give students a chance to bounce while working. I am so excited to see how my students will love having choices and taking charge of their learning!
