For many students and our community, our school has become the light of their world. Our school really challenges students. We are a public charter school with an advanced curriculum that challenges students to work about 2 grade levels above the standard state curriculum. This means my 4th grader students are introduced to 6th grade content, especially in Math, Science, History, and Language Arts. We also offer classes not usually available to students at this age. For example, my 4th graders take Drama class and Mandarin. We firmly believe children will rise to amazing levels, if simply given the encouragement and opportunity.
