My classroom is currently void of technology. In order for my students to compete with their peers across the state and the country I would like to change that. The district has purchased Reading A-Z accounts for all students but without technology my students do not have access. I would like to supplement the lack of print resources with the plethora of subjects and titles offered by Reading A-Z. Students will also be able to use the various apps the tablet offers. Allowing students to read what interests them is key to developing a love for reading!
Access to technology brings us one step closer to closing the achievement gap! With an upcoming class of 30, 5 groups of 6 are anticipated. Students will use the tablets during small group to read and answer comprehension questions. Students are able to click on the words they do not know and hear correct pronunciation. With the tablets, I can have a set of students reading the same book and facilitate a collaborative book discussion! (SO exciting!). Simultaneously focusing on literacy, speaking and listening and technology standards truly sets my students up for college and/or career success!
