The mail center shelves will help students learn responsibility and organizational skills. Students will be able to organize their materials and folders easily. So much time is spent looking for missing/lost supplies. Having a set mail center for each student would save a lot of valuable time. As we meet together for "circle time", a rug will serve as an anchor learning spot for Morning meetings, class meetings, modeling lessons, direct instruction, and sharing. A rug will be a place where my students meet to build a community of learners. Circle time on the rug provides benefits such as less distractions, everyone is facing the same direction, and we can hear each other better. A rug in my classroom will be a safe place to come together as a family to create a warm and friendly environment as we build on social-emotional skills and strategies.
