I work in a Title 1 school and we have made amazing progress over the last 5 years but with that progress we no longer can receive extra funding. Because of this and the new common core standards my resources this year are very low. Most of my students receive free/reduced lunch. They are from diverse background but all of them are considered poverty level. Most of my students have more struggles in their daily life then you could ever imagine; broken home, foster care children, homeless, domestic violence in the home, parents in jail etc. School is my student's safe place; they know no one will hurt them, they will be warm, feed, loved, and educated. Educating them is the key to making a difference in their lives and ending the cycle they currently live in.
