The school that I teach at services grades 6-8 and has approximately 1054 students. Of those 1054 students, 42% are identified as white, 30% black, 21% Hispanic and 3% other. Over 50% of the students at my school qualify for free/reduced lunch. Also, based on our state's standardized test approximately half of the students at my school are reading below grade level. I have direct contact and teach approximately 130 students daily. My students are very caring, motivated, and eager to learn but some lack the necessary tools to be as successful as they would like to be.
