My students are public middle school students in 7th and 8th grade. For the 2012-2013 school year our students were 74% low income. Despite such a high percentage of low income, my students are hard workers. My students are diverse, unique individuals who are seeking to discover themselves. My students must overcome many challenges and struggles that not all students of this age have to face. My students want to be treated with respect, but also want caring relationships from trusting adults. My students are in an essential period of their lives for growth and development as well as decision making for their path in life. My students are curious and interested in their world.
