There are 7 hours in a school day--one hour for lunch and recess, 1-3 minutes for transition between subjects at least 4-10 times a day, restroom/water breaks, and about 5 minutes to get ready for the day and 5 minutes to pack up to go home. That leaves about 5 hours in a school day. That's 300 minutes in a day. Assuming the teacher only spends half the time instructing (leaving 150 minutes), that leaves 7.5 minutes for each student to have a turn speaking. That's not nearly enough, especially for English Language Learners who need more opportunity to practice using their words for fluency. The whiteboards, markers, and erasers will allow each and every student to communicate with their teacher simultaneously, maximizing time! It will also allow them all the opportunity to express their thoughts and answers. While I love to hear my students, it's impossible for me to listen to each and every one and check their thoughts/answers all at once for every question. The whiteboards will allow me to quickly check their understanding and give each and every student a voice in the classroom. The labels and disinfecting wipes will help maintain the whiteboards so your contribution can be used for years to come!
