My students are eighth graders that need to rediscover what it feels like to read a book purely for personal enjoyment. Many of them only associate reading with test passages and answering questions. It is my goal to inspire all of my students to find their passion for reading on a personal level. I know that this would be transformational for them because it will ensure they are lifelong learners. More importantly my students will know they can always turn to books no matter what struggle they are facing to find someone or something to relate to. As the great C.S. Lewis said, "We read to know that we are not alone." I am confident that a love for reading will give my students the future they deserve. I have requested sets of as many choice book options as possible in my classroom library, so they can become invested in reading for enjoyment.
