My students will insert the five tabs in their binders and label as: "Language," "Writing," "Bell Work," "Vocabulary," and "Daily Work." This is a resource that students can use not only this year, but in the future as well. The highlighters and pencils will be used to engage students by drawing their attention to key words and phrases. In the absence of textbooks or equivalent technology, my students create their own reference materials. Students must have a resource for studying outside of the classroom. This solution presents itself as the simplest and most effective way for students to organize their classwork and notes in a manner that is easily accessible. As a first year teacher, I was surprised by how many students did not have basic supplies to begin the school year. These binders, dividers, highlighters, and pencils will help so much!
