My students all come from immigrant Hispanic families in North Carolina and attend a public magnet school with an emphasis on arts integration. Together, they make up a beautiful, vibrant group that loves to read! In their grade-level classrooms, they get whole-group instruction from amazing teachers. In my pull-out ESL classroom, they are active learners participating in predominately literacy activities. In this small-group setting, their diverse backgrounds and experiences are validated through storytelling, dual language, and various other language-based activities.
