My wonderful students are mostly Hispanic whose parents are immigrants. They value education and are extremely supportive of the teachers in our school. My third grade class will be composed of 31 students, one third of whom are at grade level. Third graders are very inquisitive and love to learn. This is an excellent age to open up the world to students. They are moving toward greater independence and you can really set them off in the right direction. Our school is located in an inner city borough. There are over 1,500 students and growing. We have been in the community since 1930. 90% of our students receive free lunch. Our staff of teachers is very dedicated and involved in the children's lives. Our students enjoy a wonderful arts program with extremely capable teachers in music, dance, and art that is supported by the whole community. Our kids are wonderful, warm, and enthusiastic.
