Characters of color are often underrepresented in classroom libraries. My diverse students need more books with characters that look like them. Books that feature children from other cultures would also help other children learn about others who are different from them. As a dual language immersion classroom, we also need books that support sociocultural competency. Books that support equality and social justice need to be easily accessible to my students. The books that I chose will help begin conversations that will help build classroom community and help inspire the world changers in my class to build equality and justice in our world. I’m passionate about culturally responsive teaching and these books would support me in growing my students in our world today. Help me by supporting my project to grow my library to support my students.
