My firsties come to school full of life and ready to learn! Just like adults, children get tired of sitting in hard chairs all day. They need more flexible/comfortable seating options to enhance their engagement and learning. Research shows that that students are able to learn better when they are physically active and comfortable. They need multiple opportunities throughout the day to sit, stand, kneel, bounce, etc. Some of the seating options that will be provided are cushions, stools, and portable writing tables. All of these options will allow my students to sit comfortably and move around while they are learning. This project would help my students stay engaged in our learning through out their day. I want to create an environment where they are comfortable and feel at home in our classroom. I can't wait to see all of the things we can accomplish with flexible seating options!
