The listening station has always been part of my literacy rotations. Research proves that listening to stories helps model fluency and prosody. Listening to a narrator read the story with excitement and sound effects not only helps bring the story to life, it also emphasizes reading as a pleasurable experience rather than just learning a skill. These iPods will help my students love reading. I have over 100 stories for my listening station that my students are unable to enjoy, due to changes in technology. I am excited to import this great literature into iTunes and use the iPods to improve reading skills and foster a love of reading.
