My students are general education first grade students. They are a diverse set of students from different cultures. Many of them come from broken homes and do not have access to many books at home. They are energetic, eager to learn and love to read to the class. The books in my class are sometimes the only books they have access to. They love different variety of books. It is a public school with approximately 1000 students. We are in a large populated neighborhood so we have a large amount of students per class with no aide so it is difficult to work with the students individually. Therefore, I like to create reading groups so they can work together.
