My students struggle with independently calming their brains and bodies, especially in times of stress, anxiety, and frustration. One of the most successful and common skills to teach is self-regulation. this requires focus, practice, and time. My goal as a teacher is to provide my students with access to any tool that will ultimately support their needs and allow them to participate with their peers successfully. The Learniture rocking stool will allow my students to practice self-regulating skills both in my classroom as well as their general education classroom. These stools blend in with many of the other seating options offered in their classrooms, so they will not feel like they stand out. The stools also provide my students with some control over the speed of motion, comfortability, and body position. It is a flexible and safe solution that allows my students a chance to practice skills that will only benefit them as learners today and tomorrow.
