My students are entering fourth grade consisting of a majority of English Language Learners (English as a second language). These students do not have much support at home; educationally or financially, and as a result many are below grade level in all educational subjects. Due to budget cuts within the New York City School System many of these students do not receive the extra support they need yet will be tested with the same standards of students coming from families of higher socio-economic classes and much more support at home.
