In my classroom, the student population is extremely diverse. There are ELL, Special Education, and gifted students within every class. We are extremely fortunate because our student body is academically, socioeconomically, and culturally varied which fosters tolerance and acceptance among the kids. We have some students who come from quite affluent neighborhoods, while others live in drug-zone projects. Last year, I had several students who had no where to call home. While it can be challenging to try to meet such diverse needs, it is also incredibly rewarding to watch students help one another and work to find common ground. One of the difficulties in our school is a lack of material resources. We have very limited technology and have virtually no textbooks.
