My students come from a very impoverished environment. They often depend on what the government provides, or hustle the streets for what the world can provide. More often than that my students don't care to finish high school, the few that do, don't care enough, or don't have the funds to attend college. They sit around at home, eat the wrong things, and put their health at risk. Here at Booker T. Washington Senior High School, we try all that we can to get our students excited about school, we try to get them to believe in themselves and all they can accomplish, we even try to promote healthy eating/living. However as a school in the middle of the projects, we can only do so much, with the little we receive.
