These boys are Latino, mostly from Puerto Rico. They are English language learners. They are from Kindergarten to fifth grade. Most of the students are from single parent homes, are living below middle class, and have no access to English high-interest leveled books for boys. These kids never have the opportunity to purchase new books at the Scholastic Book Fair like their peers.
