We are an inner city school located in Boston proper. The school goes from K-5 with three special needs classroom. Every student in the school receives free lunch. The school has no library and the public library is too far away for us to walk. My students are unable to go to the library after school because most of their parents are working two jobs and are not able to bring them. I have 12 students in my classroom. Each student has a specific learning or emotional disability. I teach both fourth and fifth grade together. I must teach both curriculum. Eight of my 12 students are English language learners. Most are reading independently on a first grade level. All my students are curious and love to be read to.
