I teach 6th grade Math in rural South Georgia. Our 6th grade class has an average size of about 130 students. In a classroom of about 28 students I teach regular education students, students with disabilities, and sometimes a few gifted education students. It can be a challenge to teach the material to three very different groups of students. I need to work in small groups with the students with disabilities as often as possible, teach the general education students, all while challenging the minds of the gifted students. The majority of my students come from poverty stricken homes. Ninety-five percent of our students are on free and reduced lunch. My hometown farms a LOT of blueberries. Therefore, we have a lot of migrant children that often don't speak our native language very well and they communicate better with technology....a language that ALL middle school children speak! One thing that every single student of mine has in common is their LOVE for technology.
