My students are great kids, but they have their challenges. They are mainly Latinos, first or second generation, and live in a tough city neighborhood. All of my students are in special education and many of them are English language learners as well. Most of them read between a second and third grade level. Considering most are mature for their grade, books written at their level do not interest them. As we all know, the more one reads, the more he or she improves. However, my kids are unable to find books that catch their attention.
