Our students are 9th through 12th graders that have grown up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. We are a small school, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't offer our students a place where they flourish academically and personally. I believe in empowering our students. I want them to feel comfortable in our library. I want them to feel invested in the library and to know how to use the space to think, create, self-motivate, assess, fail, and try again until they find success. Because I feel so strongly about the environment and its impact on students, I have focused a great deal of my efforts on changing the library space to fit our school community. I want an environment that promotes self-direction, leadership, inventiveness - a space that adapts for each learner, a space for students to find their passion and develop strategies to advance the skills they will carry with them through life.
