These much needed high-interest graphic novels will provide our struggling readers and English learners with a more current and engaging selection of titles to help with reading fluency and language development. The visual elements of these stories help pull in and engage our students, as well as improve language acquisition and reading comprehension. Most importantly, graphic novels motivate our students to read! Graphic Novels can be the gateway into reading for both our struggling readers and English learners. They allow our English learners to read age-appropriate stories with visual support for decoding. They provide our struggling readers with a sense of accomplishment in finishing a book, and often result in students navigating to similar chapter books. Adding these high-interest graphic novels to our collection will help our students find joy in reading and help us continue to build a community of readers!
