Our high school just launched a new STEM Engineering program. This new program has attracted both college-bound future engineers and typically under-performing students who long for real-world experiences in the classroom. We have seen students who routinely skip classes hang around after school to get more chances to actually design and build. STEM is making learning fun by making it real. We can really make a difference in these students' lives. Many are candidates for 2-year technical programs at our local community college and would be the first in their families to attend college. At the same time, we are paving the way for motivated students to successfully complete competitive 4-year engineering programs. Our senior Capstone projects include internships with leading industry professionals.
