The 8th grade students are predominantly African American, Hispanic and Caribbean immigrants. The school is located in the heart of one of Pennsylvania's poorest Urban communities. It was considered a failing school and became a charter school two years ago. The students having been rising to the challenge of a more rigorous academic curriculum. They are full of energy and integrating drama will help showcase their many talents. The aim is to expose them to as many genres of literature from around the world.
