My students are a very inquisitive and questioning bunch. While many had given up on education at the beginning of the school year, it is rewarding to see the sparkle back in their eye. Due to circumstances beyond my students control, the majority receive free/reduced lunch and are unable to purchase the supplies needed to contribute to our upbeat hands-on, creative classroom atmosphere. None of my students deserve to be left out because they can't afford supplies. I have tried to purchase as much as possible, but I simply can't continue to provide for 150 students. Gone are the days of instruction that require students to stay glued to their desk, complete worksheets, and read from the textbook. In order for my students to bridge the achievement gap and experience geography and economics we must have the basic materials.
