All students can learn. As a dedicated educator, I truly believe that. I do know, however, that not all students learn in the same way. My classroom is full of diverse learners. They have varying levels of ability, different interests, and obstacles. All of my students have the desire to learn and do well, I just need to provide them with the right tools. Half of the students in my classroom are classified as "basic skills." That means they are performing below grade level. I have a basic skills teacher come in for 45 minutes of the day to help these 10 students. 45 minutes is not enough time to meet their learning needs and help them to progress to hopefully one day be performing on their grade level. I would love to give them the attention that they need, but it is just not feasible with one teacher. The Internet has a plethora of resources these students could benefit from. From leveled websites, to online books, and learning videos. They are all things that would help them.
