My students are typical middle school children in every way. They are full of life. They are often loud, they are sometimes difficult, but always willing to give their all for science. My kids love to be engaged in the inquiry process. They love hands on learning and minds on challenges. Our school is also typical of an inner city, New York public school. We lack many of the resources that our counterparts downtown, or in the suburbs, take for granted. We do have a computer lab in our school, however, we do not get time to bring classes into the lab because the technology teacher has his own curriculum to teach. What this means is that we are limited as to what ICTs we can use in the classroom with only one computer available. ICTs are information and communication technology. ICT proficiency prepares students for high school and college, as well as being ready to join the workforce in a digital economy.
